As you can tell, we’re working on our Website. Our official launch date is June 15. *(See below.) You’ll notice a lot of changes between now and then.
Meanwhile, we’ve decided to allow you to witness our evolution, and encourage you to offer your feedback. Feel free to poke around the links we’ve posted in the sidebar, read our clips, and look for our progress updates on Twitter and Facebook.
What do we do at The Word Trade?
We help you use words wisely, of course.
On the launch date deadline:
Things have changed, just as predicted, so I’ve decided to take a different road. We were excited about the Web designer that we found, but they’re busy and we’re evolving so fast it’s difficult to pin us down to six pages that we may have to live with years. So, I’m going to evolve, too. But, before I can do that, I’m going back to my roots.
This whole deal began as an independent study class at the University of North Carolina Charlotte in January 2007. Today, less than a week after graduation, I’m raring to get going but I’m also going to do myself a huge favor and slow down. My original plan was to create The Word Trade’s Website on my own, learning as I went and sharing those lessons with you. I mean, how can I tell other small businesses how to do this stuff if I’m not 100% up to speed myself?
Back to the drawing board.
Over the next several months, you’ll notice plenty of changes here. What you won’t see is all of the background work. As I promised myself, I’m going to spend the summer learning as much as I can about Adobe’s Creative Suite 4, WordPress and the Thesis Theme. Yes, it’s going to be difficult and time consuming but, in the end, the knowledge gained will be invaluable.
So, hang tight. Change is coming — as promised. I’ve finally — after 14 years! — scratched “finish college” off of my to-do list. Now I’m ready to take that same energy and thirst for information and redirect it at this Website.
Will I fall on my face? Will I create something brilliant? You’ll have to stay tuned to find out.

I’m rooting for brilliance!
And don’t hesitate to pick the brains of those who’ve been on the road a tad longer than you. : )
